The Trouville Hotel
The Trouville Hotel has a wonderful setting directly overlooking the sea, opposite the golden beach in Sandown. The hotel's comfortable en suite bedrooms are equipped with modern amenities, including a TV, radio, telephone, hairdryer, and tea and coffee-making facilities plus all double or twin rooms provide the added luxury of breathtaking sea views. The restaurant has panoramic views over the bay. Bar and lounge with regular entertainment. There are a few steps within the hotel but a lift serves all floors.
Day 1
A morning departure as we head to Portsmouth and a mid afternoon ferry to Fishbourne. After the short crossing, we only have a 20 minute drive to Sandown and our hotel, the Trouville, dinner in the hotel.
DDay 2
Morning visit to Newport, the island capital, we then make our way to what was once Queen Victoria’s much-loved palatial seaside home, Osborne House. View the private apartments and state rooms as well as the beautiful gardens and Queen Victoria’s beach, where there is a bathing machine which the Queen used to get undressed in! Dinner at the hotel.
Day 3
Day at leisure in Sandown. Dinner in the hotel.
B, DDay 4
Following breakfast we head to Havenstreet and a ride on the award winning Isle of Wight Steam railway, settle back in beautifully restored Victorian and Edwardian carriages and enjoy a unique view of some of the Island's unspoilt countryside. We then head to Ryde with its pier, sandy beaches and Victorian houses. Dinner at the hotel.
B, DDay 5
Today we have a scenic drive to Alum Bay, renowned for its coloured sands and views of the famous Needles. We then continue via the pretty resort of Yarmouth to the quintessential picture postcard village of Godshill that boasts some of the oldest architecture on the Isle of Wight, with its delightful medieval church, charming thatched-roofed cottages and a winding main-street lined with traditional tearooms. Final evening meal served at the Trouville.
Day 6
A final day at leisure. Dinner in the hotel.
B, DDay 7
Today after breakfast we leave the hotel and travel to Fishbourne for the ferry to Portsmouth. From Portsmouth we head home.
