Llandrindod Wells -Steam & Cruise in Wales

Day 1

A morning departure as head to Shrewsbury, time at leisure for lunch in this lovely medieval Market town situated on the River Severn. We complete our journey via Welshpool to Llandrindod Wells and our hotel the Metropole. Dinner in the hotel.

Day 2

This morning we drive into the Elan Valley and a visit to the spectacular Victorian stone dam and visitor centre. We return to the Victorian Spa Town of Llandrindod Wells for lunch at leisure before our afternoon visit to the interesting National Cycle Museum and journey through the lanes of cycle history. See bicycles from yesteryear such as the Hobby Horse, Boneshakers and Penny Farthings, up to the most modern carbon fibre machines of today. Dinner in the hotel.

Day 3

We leave after breakfast for the journey to Aberystwyth and a return journey on the the Vale of Rheidol Railway. We catch the morning train along the former Great Western line to Devil's Bridge. This was the last route to operate steam trains for British Rail before private ownership in 1989. A short walk from the terminus brings you to the spectacular Mynach Falls. We catch the return train to Aberystwyth for some time at leisure in this Victorian seaside resort with its lovely promenade. Dinner in the hotel.

Day 4

Today we experience the beautiful and diverse scenery of the Brecon Beacons National Park, We spend time in Brecon with its medieval cathedral and narrow streets full of craft and antique shops before joining a canal boat for a cruise along the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal complete with afternoon tea. Final dinner at the hotel.

Day 5

We leave Llandrindodd Wells and head through the Welsh Marches to Ludlow, with its stunning medieval and Tudor architecture, an impressive ruined castle, a thriving local market, and a renowned reputation as a top foodie destination. We leave after lunch for the remainder of the journey home.
