For an island that is just 33 miles long and 13.5 miles wide, the Isle of Man packs in an awful lot for coach holiday visitors to see and do. The stunning natural landscape ranges from the mountain of Snaefell to the beautiful sandy beaches of Peel, Port Erin and Ramsey, the rocky cliffs of its coastline to the natural beauty of the Calf of Man.

 

The Empress Hotel

The 4-star Empress Hotel is situated in an impressive beachfront location overlooking Douglas Bay and within easy walking distance of Douglas town centre. The grand Victorian hotel with modern facilities and stylish interiors offers a warm and friendly welcome for all guests. All 104 traditional en suite bedrooms are generously sized and are well appointed with lovely soft furnishings. Piano Bar, Lounge and Conservatory which offers plenty of seating. Lift.

 

Day 1

An early morning departure as we head to Heysham and the early afternoon Isle of Man steam packet ferry sailing to Douglas. On arrival we only have a short journey to our hotel the Empress. Dinner in the hotel.

Day 2

After breakfast we head to Laxey, with a visit to the Island’s most famous landmark, the Great Laxey Wheel, the world’s largest working waterwheel. After lunch we board the Snaefell Mountain Railway for the scenic 5-mile climb to the summit of Snaefell Mountain. This Victorian railway began operating in 1895 and is the only electric mountain railway in the British Isles. Dinner in the hotel

Day 3

Today we visit the west coast town of Peel, time to explore Peel, attractions include the Cathedral, Peel Castle and Devereau’s, the only remaining smoked kipper factory on the island. We return to Douglas for the afternoon at leisure where we can experience attractions like the Manx Museum and the town’s iconic horse-drawn tramway, which trundles along the promenade. Dinner in the hotel.

Day 4

We discover the south coast today, beginning with a trip aboard the Isle of Man Steam Railway. We board the train in Douglas and travel through the countryside to the resort of Port Erin, here we can visit the railway museum and have lunch before an afternoon visit to the Cregneash Folk Village where we gain an insight into Island Life in the late 19th Century. Dinner in the hotel.

Day 5

After an early breakfast we join the morning ferry to Heysham and then we are homeward bound.
