Based in the heart of the much-loved seaside town of Southport, we have plenty of my time for the most leisurely, relaxing break with easy access to all its wonderful attractions. Stroll through the Kings Gardens and browse the historic shops of Lord Street or hop on a bus to visit the Botanic Gardens. Well also delve into the countys history with a visit to two amazing Tudor stately homes and delightful gardens.
Waterfront Southport Hotel
Located in the heart of Southport just steps from the towns top attractions and the beach, the stylish Waterfront Southport Hotel enjoys a stunning location overlooking the Marine Lake. Day 1
Morning departure, calling at Liverpool for some free time and the chance to obtain lunch in the wonderful setting of the city's Albert Dock. We leave mid afternoon for the short journey to Southport and a 4 night stay at the Waterfront Hotel. Dinner in the hotel.
DDay 2
Enjoy the day at leisure in Southport. With so much to see within walking distance of the hotel, enjoy a stroll around the King's Gardens with its restored Victorian shelters, ornate Venetian bridge, boating lake and model village. Close by is Lord Street, the main shopping street with historic buildings and independent shops. Dinner at the hotel.
B, DDay 3
After a hearty breakfast, we travel to Rufford Old Hall, one of Lancashire's most charming historic treasures. This magnificent Grade I listed Tudor manor is set within beautiful gardens and grounds and boasts more than 500 years of fascinating history. Explore the impressive Tudor Great Hall, with its spectacular hammerbeam roof, before discovering the later Jacobean and Gothic wings. Take time to wander through the Victorian gardens and woodlands, browse the second-hand bookshop or relax with refreshments in the delightful Victorian tea-room.After a wonderful day exploring this remarkable historic house, we return to the hotel for a delicious dinner, followed by a relaxing evening at leisure.
B, DDay 4
After breakfast, we depart for a delightful visit to Speke Hall, Garden & Estate, one of the North West's most atmospheric Tudor properties. Set within beautiful gardens overlooking the Mersey estuary, this magnificent timber-framed house offers a fascinating blend of history, architecture and nature. Enjoy time to explore the tranquil gardens and estate before the Hall opens after lunch. There will be an opportunity to enjoy refreshments or a bite to eat at the Home Farm Restaurant before discovering the richly furnished interiors and fascinating history of this remarkable Tudor house. Dinner at the Hotel.
B, DDay 5
A final breakfast and some time at Leisure in Southport before we leave after lunch for the journey home.
