Dining with Distinction,Christmas Lunch on a Steam

Day 1

A morning departure as we head to Manchester spend the day exploring the city including the popular Christmas Market, set over 10 individual areas, many of the streets are lined with wooden chalets that offer everything from unique Christmas gifts to mouth watering delicacies from all over Europe, why not try some Dutch mini-pancakes, Hungarian goulash, Spanish paella, French profiteroles, Austrian Gluhwein, German beer or perhaps some French wines. Manchester also has a fine array of shops from the small independent boutique to World Famous Selfridges & Harvey Nicholls. We leave late afternoon for the journey to Burnley and our Hotel The Mercure Dunkenhalgh. Dinner in the hotel.

Day 2

Following a leisurely breakfast in the hotel we head to Bury and have time for coffee before making our way to Bury station and taking our reserved seats in your Pullman style carriage for an afternoon steam train ride. As we pass picture post card villages and stations festooned with lights, enjoy a glass of fizz and a 3 course traditional festive meal with all the trimmings. We return to our hotel for the evening. Dinner in the hotel.

Day 3

After breakfast in the hotel we head to the famous Oswaldtwistle Mills, here we are joined by a local guide for an informative coach tour through "Pendle Witch" country, on our return to the mill we have time for lunch and shopping before leaving mid afternoon for the return journey home.
