Highlander Hotel, Newtonmore
The Highlander Hotel is located in the village of Newtonmore in the heart of the Cairngorm National Park and offers friendly service and quality food. The hotel consists of 2 main areas, the public area which has a reception, comfortable lounge, bar and restaurant and the second area where the 85 en suite bedrooms are located. Although the hotel does not have a lift, all of the public areas and many of the bedrooms are on the ground floor. Regular entertainment.
Day 1
A morning departure as we head north via Carlisle, Stirling and Perth to our hotel, The Highlander at Newtonmore. Dinner in the hotel.
DDay 2
Today we enjoy a guided tour and tasting at Glen Moray Distillery, nestled on the banks of the River Lossie in the city of Elgin. After, we enjoy free time to explore and soak up the festive atmosphere in Elgin before taking a scenic drive back to our hotel via Grantown-on-Spey. Tonight we enjoy a traditional Christmas dinner with a visit from Santa.
B, DDay 3
We begin our day with a visit to Inverness with free time to explore and perhaps do some Christmas shopping. In the afternoon we are treated to an afternoon tea at the impressive Palace Hotel & Spa, which dates back to the 1890s. We have a taste of Scotland Hogmanay dinner with live entertainment at the Hotel tonight.
B, DDay 4
After breakfast we head to Dingwall and join the Kyle Line train for journey to the Kyle of Lochalsh, described by Michael Palin as 'one of the most beautiful rail journeys in the world'. Our coach will meet us at Kyle for the return journey to the Hotel . Final dinner and entertainment at the hotel.
Day 5
We leave the Highlander hotel for the return journey home.
