Riverside Lodge Hotel, Irvine, Ayrshire
The Riverside Lodge hotel is located on the outskirts of Irvine. All 128 comfortable bedrooms are equipped with a TV, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. There is no lift but there are 64 ground floor rooms.
Day 1
We travel to Scotland.
Day 2
Today, we board the ferry at Ardrossan and sail to Brodick on the Isle of Arran, known as ‘Scotland in Miniature’. When on the island we visit Brodick Castle, a grand baronial castle set by the sea, bedecked with gardens, surrounded by hills and overlooked by the majestic Goatfell mountain. After free time for lunch in Brodick, we take a scenic drive around some of the island, before we board our ferry back to the mainland.
B, DDay 3
The highlight of our tour, we enjoy a return cruise on the famous Waverley Paddle Steamer, the world’s last seagoing paddle steamer, around Loch Long and Loch Goil from Largs or Greenock, with entertaining commentary highlighting the passing points of interest.
B, DDay 4
DAY 4 We remain on the mainland today, first heading to Ayr to visit the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum, which offers a unique encounter with Scotland’s favourite son. There is time for lunch here before we head to Culzean Castle, one of Scotland’s best loved castles, with gardens, beaches, woods, trails and to crown it all, a cliff-top castle of monumental size.

Return journey home.
