Falmouth's Flora & the Enchanting Isles of Scilly
Situated on the sunny south coast of Cornwall, Falmouth is a thriving town full of arts, culture, creativity and history. The town’s maritime heritage is woven into the fabric of Falmouth and its inhabitants, and remains an important part of the local economy.
Based in the lovely coastal town of Falmouth, this tour features excursions to some of Cornwall’s most delightful destinations, including St Michael’s Mount, Trebah Garden and the fishing harbour of St Ives. We also take in famous Land’s End and spend a day on the uncrowded and unspoilt Isles of Scilly.
The Falmouth Hotel Set in a beautiful location on the cliff top overlooking the sea, the traditional, grand Victorian Falmouth Hotel is just a short, easy 10-minute walk to the town centre. The hotel’s 71 traditionally styled en suite bedrooms all contain a TV, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. The hotel’s public areas have had a recent refurbishment with the restaurant offering lots of natural daylight and lovely views over the coastline. Set in 5 acres of landscaped gardens, there is also an outside seating area overlooking the sea. Leisure facilities include an indoor swimming pool and hot tub. Lift
Day 1
A morning departure as we head to Cornwall and our resort of Falmouth where we spend the next 4 nights at the Falmouth Hotel. Dinner in the hotel.
DDay 2
An early breakfast in the hotel as we head to Penzance and the morning ferry to the enchanting Isles of Scilly. We arrive on the beautiful island of St Mary's, the largest of the Isles of Scilly and the gateway to the rest of the islands. Measuring approximately 2 ½ miles by 1 ¾ miles, the compact island is a delight to explore, with a selection of shops, churches and galleries dotted around the central hub, Hugh Town, as well as some charming cafés, restaurants and pubs where we can enjoy lunch. We can also stretch our legs on one of the lovely beaches, take a gentle stroll to admire the fabulous scenery or simply watch the comings and goings around the Quay before catching our return ferry to Penzance . Day 3
This morning we head to the attractive town of Marazion, where we enjoy a photo stop to capture the tidal island of St Michael's Mount, which lies half a mile offshore. We then continue our travels to the famous Land's End, we enjoy the natural beauty and beautiful views here before travelling along the scenic West Cornwall coast road to the picturesque fishing harbour and seaside town of St Ives. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 4
A morning visit to the Trebah Garden with free time to explore this sub-tropical garden paradise. Set against a stunning coastal backdrop, at the bottom of the garden there is also a secluded private beach on the Helford River to admire. We then head back to Falmouth for the afternoon at leisure to enjoy a stroll around the harbour, beaches, galleries and shops. Final dinner at the Hotel.
Day 5
We leave for our journey home.
