Durham & Beamish at Christmas Time
Durham is always worth a visit, but it’s especially magical during the countdown to Christmas.
Durham is always worth a visit, but it’s especially magical during the countdown to Christmas. Experience the gorgeous features of this picturesque city under the scattered web of twinkling lights and frost-tipped trees, as we explore the seasonal delights lurking around every corner. We also pay a special visit to the Beamish Open Air Living Museum, with its unique display of vintage decorations, to complete this postcard-perfect Christmas getaway.
Durham Marriott Royal County Hotel

Day 1
A morning departure we travel to the stunning city of Durham for a heart-warmingly festive visit. Discover an abundance of impressive historical buildings including the unique 11th-century castle, the university’s Botanic Garden and the magnificent Norman cathedral as they’re bedecked in their spectacular winter decorations. Free time here before we continue to our hotel for a 2-night stay.
Day 2
After breakfast we head to the ever-popular living museum of Beamish, where we can experience the magic of Christmas from different points in British history. Savour the seasonal sights, smells and tastes of Christmas past as you enjoy Victorian festive traditions or browse homemade gifts from the Home Front. Take a step back in time as we meet costumed characters at the 1940s farm and early 20th century Pit Village, and enjoy catching a tram through The Town; a typical market town from the years leading up to the First World War.

A free day at leisure in Durham. Our coach will begin the return journey home at 15:00hrs.
