Alnwick Light Festival and Festive Beamish

Day 1

A morning departure as we head north, time for lunch in the bustling Yorkshire market town of Northallerton before we head to Newcastle and our hotel the Copthorne. Dinner in the hotel.

Day 2

Breakfast in the hotel before some free time in Newcastle, immerse yourself in the vibrant street market that stretches from the Swing Bridge to the Millenium Bridge, with independent traders selling handcrafted goods, local products and street food, or make your way to Grey's Monument where Around 30 Christmas market stalls will be set up and you will know Yuletide is just around the corner as the smell of sizzling bratwurst and mulled wine fills the city centre streets. Mid afternoon return to our hotel and we leave for Alnwick garden to admire the beautiful Winter Light Trail. Sparkling and shimmering illuminations light up the gardens as you've never seen them before in a stunning sound and light extravaganza at this after dark spectacular. Late dinner on our return to the hotel.

Day 3

This morning we delve into Christmases past as we travel to the Beamish Open Air Museum, here we discover the amazing seasonal sights, sounds, smells and delicious tastes of a bygone Christmas. Experience the magic of a traditional Christmas as you join in the celebrations at 1820s Pockerley Old Hall, 1900s Town, 1900s Pit Village and 1940s Farm. We return to the Copthorne for Dinner.

Day 4

After breakfast in the hotel, we then head to the ancient and historic City of Durham, acclaimed as a World Heritage Site and dominated by the magnificent Norman Cathedral and Castle, high above the River Wear. Time at leisure We return to Newcastle and a final dinner at the hotel.

Day 5

DAY 5 We leave our hosts in Newcastle for the Journey home.
