Join us on a tour of Germany’s spectacular Black Forest region. Famed for its beautiful evergreen forests and mountain scenery, we will explore picturesque medieval towns steeped in history.
Join us on a tour of Germany’s spectacular Black Forest region. Famed for its beautiful evergreen forests and mountain scenery, we will explore picturesque medieval towns steeped in history. With visits to the towns of Triberg and Wolfach, we learn more about traditional skills and see the world’s largest cuckoo clock. We also visit the city of Strasbourg and the beautiful town of Baden-Baden.
Hotel Klosterbräustuben, Zell am Harmersbach, Black Forest
A family-run hotel on the outskirts of Zell am Harmersbach, the Klosterbräustuben makes for a delightful home away from home, in the midst of the central Black Forest. All bedrooms have a modern Scandinavian-type feel with light wood beds and laminate wood flooring and come with hairdryer and TV. There is plenty of opportunity to unwind with the heated indoor swimming pool, plunge pool, sauna and relaxation rooms. Inside, there is plenty of seating whilst the restaurant is airy and bright and the bar areas spills onto an outside terrace.
Please note: For overnight stops, we recommend you pack all your requirements in a separate holdall.

Day 1
A morning departure (this will be in the early hours of your departure date) we travel to Dover for our ferry crossing to Calais. We then continue to the Mercure Liege City Centre Hotel for our overnight stay (Evening meal included).
Day 2
After breakfast at the hotel we continue our journey to the Hotel Klosterbräustuben.
Day 3
This morning we start with a visit to Triberg, famed for its traditional wood carvings and cuckoo clocks. Here we have the opportunity to see the pretty Triberg Waterfalls and/or the Black Forest Museum complete with exhibits on clocks and mining (admission not included). In the afternoon we return to Gutach – via a stop to view the world’s largest cuckoo clock – to visit Black Forest Open Air Museum where have a 45-minute guided tour. This is followed by a Black Forest cake demonstration, including coffee and cake.
Day 4
Today we travel through picturesque countryside to stop for a short while to admire the views of the Mummelsee before continuing onwards to the superb spa town of Baden-Baden, where we will spend the rest of the day exploring.
Day 5
Today we spend time at leisure. We can take the train (free of charge with local visitor card) from the station to the beautiful town of Gengenbach & explore the old town.
Day 6
Today we have a full day in the picturesque and historic port city of Strasbourg, the capital of the region and centre of the European Parliament. To see more of the city, we take a circular canal cruise (with English headset commentary) from downtown through to the impressive imperial district of Neustadt. We have the afternoon at leisure to explore. With plenty to see and do, stroll around the old town of La Petite France with medieval houses and cobbled streets and the Gothic Cathedrale Notre-Dame. For a snapshot of Alsatian life visit one of the fascinating museums.
Day 7
Today we depart the hotel and begin the return journey with an overnight stay at the Globales Post Hotel, Liege. (Evening meal included).

We depart after breakfast and continue the journey home.
